Stream
Microsoft Streamis an enterprise video hosting platform. It can be used to host and share videos, including live events and training content.
Stream, like other Microsoft 365 applications, has a powerful web interface as shown inFigure 4.1:

It can also be embedded inside other collaborative tools such as SharePoint Online, as shown in Figure 4.2:

Stream videos and channels can also be added to Microsoft Teams channels.
Upcoming Changes to Stream
Microsoft announced that Stream will be transitioned to a SharePoint -based technology in 2021. The older version of Stream will be renamed Stream (Classic), while the new and current version will be named Stream (On SharePoint). Stream (Classic) will be fully retired by July 30, 2024. Viva Engage
Viva Engage (formerly Yammer) is a social networking platform that’s integrated into Microsoft 365. It has a feed-style interface and is organized by creating groups. It can be used to post announcements, host live events, take polls, follow conversations, and participate in chats. It supports images, file attachments, GIFs, and @ mentions much like most other popular social networking platforms.
Viva Engage can be used to replace the SharePoint Online newsfeed or can be configured as a part of the web interface on a modern SharePoint page, as shown in Figure 4.3:

As you can see, these applications have a lot of integrations with other components in Microsoft 365. This application integration allows you to move between applications and draw the user’s attention to certain pieces of content, regardless of which user interface experience they’re using. For example, you can mention or tag a user in Yammer and they’ll get an activity notification in Teams, as well as one in Outlook. If you mention or tag a user in Yammer, they’ll get the notifications in Yammer and Outlook. Teams can be used to bring together Stream, video channels, and Yammer group content, making users aware of all updates in a single user interface instead of relying on a user being logged into the site or application you’re commenting on.
Exam Tip
The rebranding of Yammer to Viva Engage isn’t fully completed and most of it will happen after the most recent version of the MS-900 exam. For purposes of the MS-900 exam, Yammer and Viva Engage are interchangeable.
